Spin
When 11-year-old Spin stepped into his first AEP appointment, subtle imbalances were already taking a toll on his comfort and performance. Through balance-focused trimming and guided restoration, his journey began—not just to fix the foot, but to rebuild it from the inside out.

At a Glance: Key Details
At 11 years old, Spin began his journey into Applied Equine Podiatry (AEP) in September 2024. Like many performance horses, his challenges weren’t always visible from the outside — but subtle imbalances in his hooves were affecting his comfort, movement, and long-term soundness.
At his first appointment, we focused on rebalancing his feet and restoring internal stability. Using both physical evaluation and radiographic images, we began mapping a plan to align Spin’s hoof function with his overall anatomy. Our goal? Rebuild from the inside out.
Over time, these foundational corrections will support stronger structures, improved performance, and a happier, healthier horse.
Initial Assessment
At intake, Spin presented with subtle asymmetries in hoof balance and posture. While not overtly lame, he displayed uneven loading patterns and mild discomfort on hard ground. Radiographic imaging confirmed imbalances in the hoof capsule, particularly affecting alignment with the internal structures.
The primary focus was to realign the hoof capsule with the internal architecture of the foot. We used precise, balance-oriented trimming methods grounded in Applied Equine Podiatry principles to reduce internal strain and promote natural movement patterns.
Spin’s owner hoped to maintain peak performance and extend his sound working years. The focus was on preventing future lameness, improving stride comfort, and ensuring a sustainable hoof care routine tailored to his athletic demands.
Spin’s care plan includes regular AEP-guided trims every 4–6 weeks, radiograph review as needed, and continuous reassessment of hoof mechanics as his movement and comfort evolve. The long-term goal is to maintain optimal balance and function that supports both performance and longevity.
